What's new in the 2025 Ford Explorer?

Ford has restyled the front fascia giving it a new grille and lower air inlets while the back end now has new taillamps. The new 2025 Explorer includes an updated interior that elevates comfort levels with soft touch surfaces. The 2025 Explorer will be the first Ford model to offer Andover buyers the Ford Digital Experience, a software system that can easily integrate your favorite apps and provide Internet browsing when you're parked.

Trim levels

The 2025 Ford Explorer now offers Methuen buyers four trim levels:

Active Trim
  • Active: Powered by a 2.3-liter 300-horsepower turbocharged engine and includes a power liftgate, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats and 18-inch alloy wheels

    • ST-Line Trim
  • ST-Line: Comes with a special ST exterior styling package, 20-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, an eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat and a premium Bang & Olufsen audio system with 10 speakers

    • Platinum Trim
  • Platinum: Gives Londonderry drivers a power-folding third-row seat, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, heated and ventilated massaging front seats, power-folding side mirrors and leather upholstery

    • ST Trim
  • ST: Equipped with a 400-horsepower turbo V6 engine, an ST appearance package, 20-inch alloy wheels, a sport suspension system, performance brakes and leather and microfiber sport front seats

    • Performance

    The standard engine in the new Explorer's first three trims is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that's good for 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The top-level ST trim comes with a 3.0-liter turbo V6 that can generate 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Even with all its size, the Ford Explorer can reach 60 mph in as little as 5.3 seconds. That's the kind of performance Atkinson and Hudson drivers will appreciate when you need to pass safely on the highway.

    A comparison of interiors

    Both the 2024 and 2025 versions of the Ford Explorer give your family three rows and plenty of comfort. It's easy for passengers to access the third row with a mechanism that moves the second-row seat out of the way at the touch of a button. For 2025, the Explorer provides new interior color schemes and the Explorer's dashboard has been redesigned to provide front passengers with more room.
